Share Your Ideas of Giving
I know I have not been as active here in the Nest lately, but I have lots of great things planned for the New Year! If you have not added your button or photo and URL to the In the Nestwork page then please do so if you have joined. We have about 600 members and I would love to see everyone’s button included on that page.
If you could give to someone who is not family or a friend this holiday season, who would you give to? Let’s share some ideas with one another of how we can spread the joy this year to some who may not have as much as ourselves.
Have a super holiday!

such a GREAT idea Mama! Hmmm, I’ll have to think about this one but I know that our family tries to focus on being thankful for each other and giving to others, instead of receiving
Every Christmas my three children accompany their Nonna to the retired Nuns’ home where she worked for over 20 years. They visit with all the old nuns and leave many smiling faces at the end of the morning. It makes me proud that they can bring a little childlike joy to these darling women’s faces each Christmas. x
I like giving to projects that benefit college students and their families. I use to participate in a toy and book drive for college students who were parents and their kids would attend the college daycare. it was awesome to interact with them and be able to give them just a little something to make their holidays great!
We adopted a family this year and we’ve really enjoyed planning and shopping for them. I’d really like to go out and help feed the hungry on Christmas though, it pains me to think there are those without homes, families or even food. I think maybe as our kids get older, we will find a way to work this into our Christmas day.
We take treats to our neighbors. Many of whom we haven’t seen since we trick or treated.
I’m a big fan of the food bank. I think everyone should have a full belly, especially at Christmas time.
I’ve added my button! My post today is about giving to others – donating blood to be specific. The holiday road toll in Australia can be terrible. Blood is always in short supply. It’s a great gift – one that keeps on giving.
There are so many great ideas on here! Great topic Mama! The police and firefighters may not necessariy be hard up, but my girlies and I do like to bring them Christmas cookies as a thank you for keeping us safe all year.
One of my goals for early 2011 is to give more to charity – both in an immediate sense, and in sorting out my will with some legacies, which is a small step anyone can take but with potentially huge impact later (of course, I’m not planning on dying any time soon!!).
