The Fight: Contentment
From time to time there is a tug of war that goes on within me. You know the old battle between gotta do more and be more versus appreciating the life I have.
Some people seem to manage these two beasts from within quite well. I am keenly aware however that there is another percentage, like me, who participate in this battle all too often.
Sometimes I want to blame someone for this feeling. But those of you who’ve read my blog know I don’t participate in the blame game. I’m of the mind that we create our own perceptions and therefore we either create unrest or happiness.
Perhaps if you are like me you tend to interweave with two; unrest and happiness. I appreciate things around me but simultaneously focus on what else can be learned, accomplished or obtained.
And perhaps we need both.
Sometimes we need to be jerked out of our lovely lives and into something uncomfortable and hard. These times teach us about humanity and they teach us about ourselves. These times are defining moments.
Sometimes it’s okay to sit back and let your heart smile knowing you’ve paid your dues and given your best.
So perhaps the battle will continue on because one without the other just wouldn’t be as sweet.
How do you fight the fight?

oh wow, LOVE TV’s TAKE and so happy she’s been chosen to be featured!!! So deserving!!!
Mama H thank you sooo much for hosting…your the best Hen around!
I love this discussion! I think for me, it’s an ongoing battle to stop always looking ahead to what I want for our family and instead look to what our family has now and be happy with that. Sometimes I’m successful, others, not so much.
I love TV’s Take – there’s always a gold nugget tucked into her short, insightful posts. I come out of there feeling refreshed whenever I stop by. I can so relate to this article and I agree, we need both – being content to appreciate life and being content to learn & accomplish. There’s a certain balance we can find, and a certain understanding of our own values, priorities and personalities that I think helps in achieving balance in our journeys. How I fight the fight? Dig deep and get to know myself better.
My form of contentment is to be constantly doing more and different stuff… so I guess that’s my answer
But it does make for a very busy life!
