Passion and Everyday Life by Jinnia Low from Jinnia Low.com

Ever since becoming a mom, I find time slips through my fingers faster than it ever did when I was a college student or young girl. Through plenty of trial and error, I discovered time is something to be managed through choosing the right priorities for myself and my family.
Time itself is such a valuable gift. Every day we’re given 24 hours to live. What we do with those 24 hours is a gift to those around us.
I love and appreciate all the relationships in my life but I admit, I’m not always present to those around me. Maybe it’s part of my personality to ponder, reflect and contemplate about life. I love to dive into the rich meaning of life and turn over issues in my mind of how I can help make a difference in this world we live in.
Sometimes I forget that everyday life has its own richness of taste, feel and touch. When I let myself be in touch with my kids, is when I see their robust imagination taking them to far-off places. Then their creativity brings them “back home” in a new way.
Lately my kids have been going on a “tight-rope” walk in their minds. They’re talking with each other about what they’re wearing, how they’re walking and what to do when the bear claw comes. One morning my husband and I find they’ve constructed their own “tight-rope” obstacle course out of blocks. They’re walking on it and re-enacting the scenes from their head.
I’m grateful for these times with my family – and for the time I can spend with our kids now when they’re still young. Like many wise women tell me, they’re this young only once. Treasure the time.
My family and spiritual life are my highest priorities. I may have dreams and aspirations, and sometimes they take me to far-off places, taking more time than I’d like. Thankfully, the people in my everyday life help bring me “back home” by giving hands and feet to my truest passions.
What do you like about everyday life? What are you passionate about?

Thank you Jinnia for such a lovely, introspective post.

I too, have dreams and aspirations which take me to far off places, doing such amazing, exciting and ground breaking things. However, I can honestly say that the most refreshing part of my day is seeing my children’s faces when I pick them up from daycare and school. I love asking them about their day. I love being the person there to do this.

There are lots of other things that I would like to do and places where I would like to be, i.e. (different job, bigger house, living in a different city), but with whatever change comes in my life, I enjoy being the one they run to and give a big hug at the end of their day.
