Who Would You Be?
Hello Nestwork! With Halloween coming up I thought it would be interesting to share with the Nest who you would love to be for a day and why if you could simply put on a costume and play the part. It could be something very inspiring or absolutely funny. Tell us, who would you be?

Hi there! Hasn’t Mama Hen set up such a great forum for us to discover new blogs and meet one another? I just love what she has done with the Nestwork and was completely shocked but totally honored when she asked me to be featured! Me? First of all, I’m not a Mom. But I do have “kids.” Seventeen of them to be exact! I’m a teacher who moved from the snowy north after graduating to be in the sunny south. I figured if I didn’t make the move right out of school then I would be stuck up there the rest of my life freezing to death and shoveling snow. I have never been happier that I made the gutsy decision to move to a place where I knew not a soul. I have made Florida my home, have a wonderful job teaching third grade, am close to my family and have made the best of friends. Heck- I like it here so much that I even bought a house! Life is good!
“Soaking Up the Sunnyside of Life” is my little piece of heaven. It’s a “project” I began 220 days ago. I decided one day that I wanted to quit focusing on all of the things that would happen throughout the day that were negative and instead find the positives. I wasn’t going to just blog when my days were completely wonderful and filled with endless amounts of joy, cupcakes and butterflies. I decided I was going to commit to 365 days of finding the “Sunnyside of Life-” even on the “car breaks down” and “I’m not feeling well” kind of days. And you know what? This blog has helped to change my thinking and thought process on a daily basis. Even on the most horrific of days (and we all have them) I can turn on my computer and find something- anything that made my day great. It’s like therapy, but it’s FREE!
Besides writing, I am in love with music. I love to play the piano and find it’s the best reliever of stress. I sing way too loudly in the car and often have to put up the windows so I don’t embarrass myself. I am obsessed with football, have a green thumb and love to cook and try new recipes. I have erased my snow-filled days with starfish wishes and sandcastle dreams and I couldn’t be happier!
Thank you again Mama Hen for this wonderful opportunity to meet your friends. They are a great bunch and I hope they find themselves Soaking Up the Sunnyside of Life today, too. I know I sure am!

Hi fellow Nesties! I’m so excited to be a part of the Nestwork and hav
e met some truly fabulous bloggers here. Thank you, Mama Hen, for asking me to introduce myself.
My name is Carol and I am literally Knee Deep in Mommahood and little girls. My oldest is 4 ½ and she’s my little negotiator and boundary tester. She pushes our patience to the limit and then turns around with the sweetest toothless smile. My youngest is 18 months and she’s a firecracker who is still working on using “gentle hands” and keeping her teeth to herself. We live in the land of the newlywed and nearly dead and find that raising kids in a town where most of the population is retired is a blessing. Life moves slowly here, the elderly are fascinated and drawn to children (for the most part). I love that when we ride our bikes through the neighborhood as a family, folks come out of their houses just to watch and wave. They really savor the blessing that is childhood and fleeting youth.
As most people do, I started my blog to keep our family in the North up to date on what the girls were doing. It morphed in to a way for me to express my feelings and share our joys and struggles. Since starting my blog, I’ve realized that I need another hobby outside of being the best momma that I can be. I also need to focus on doing something for me, something I love, something that has goals attached to it, and something that I can invest my energy in and see results. I’ve found that in my camera. Photography has become my hobby and passion. I love learning concepts and practicing what I’ve learned. And, I have really enjoyed the sense of community I’ve felt with other photographers and mommy bloggers. I don’t intend on becoming professional. I just want to take the best pictures I can of my kids and lose myself in a photowalk, or editing session every now and then. The bonus is that I’m documenting their childhood in a wonderful way, and every now and then I take that perfect picture that is wall worthy.
Besides photography, I love Gymboreeing (which is the appropriate verb form for shopping at Gymboree), drinking Sweet Tea with the Bestie, going to the beach and taking my girls to the park. I find a lot of comfort in my faith and the arms of my husband who tolerates my hypochondriac tendencies and severe claustrophobia.
And although life is wonderfully chaotic, we never forget that God is good, and so is coffee! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Be Blessed!
